Bay Ridge made me think it might the old NH/LIRR/NYConnecting, but I confused Hillside for Woodside.

Alomost the entire line would share the RoW, but not the tracks, of the Bay Ridge freight-only, now used only by the LIRR's private freight partner, the New York and Atlantic, but classicly the main user by traffic rights was the New Haven, and its main, by Bay Ridge - Greenpont, NJ, New Haven car-float (barges with tugboats), with the PRR.

A bit on the Woodside end would be adjacent to LIRR passenger=served tracks to include a conveniuent transfer terminal station, for connection to the LIRR, Metro-North's abuilding Penn-Station via Hell-Gate-Bridge service, and the No. 7 on-viaduct "subway" line.

Is this along a former or existing line?

Woodside - Bay Ridge Now Can Be a Success

This in cuontrary to an older thread of mine on this Forum.  Why the  change?

The NY-State MTA is now seriously considering light rail.

1.  Much lower construction costs.

2.   Loiwer by some, not great but significent, operating costs.

3.  Unique operation within New  York City just for the experience.

4.  And related tgo the above, nostalgia, direct or from parents, for the "good old trolley days."

5.  Also can "see-out-front."  Ended elsewhere on rail with enf of use  of long-lived R-32s.
