If I remember correctly, the F59PHI's were ordered for the Marlboro Express promotional train.  When that proposed operation was cancelled, the F59PHI's were sold to TRE.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

The whole Trinity Railway Express operation used secondhand equipment didn't it? The F59PH locomotives and cars came from GO Transit in Ontario, didn't they? Where did the F40PH units come from? Were they modified to reduce emissions? Peter

Yes everything is second hand though I am not sure of the exact lineage on every single piece.    The two F59PHI's they have, they got a deal on, direct from EMD......I seem to remember reading.

Most of the rest of the stuff is former GO Transit.   All I know about the F40PH was they were rebuilt at progress rail and repainted for TRE.    I don't know where progress rail got them from

Just a question - does TRE normally run with two locomotives for 2-car and 3-car trains?

They do look like they were born to wear that paint scheme!

No one locomotive is the usual.    I think they did that because they are breaking them in as they are newly rebuilt and so they could shut them down the F40PH if an issue but the train would still run on time.
