I've seen a model of that thing at a heritage railway in the U.K, can't recall which one. Those limeys have a whimsical streak, don't they? 

I imagine that you're not the only one who follows Jago Hazzard on You Tube- he puts out some great information the London Underground and other items of interest.

Yes, you read that right. Actually, it was more of an amusement park ride than serious public transport, but it did exist.
