Tele Aviv has the world's largest bus station with 7 floors and 5 stadium's large and only gets 50,000 passenger's a day and is mostly vacant with 2 unused floors see YouTube video on it

1. No, the world's largest white elephant is Amtrak where grown ups get to play with the Big Lionel Set - pretending they're operating a "national passenger service" - at taxpayer expense

2. And your point is? That a trolley or train terminal of equal size wouldn't be as underused?

3. The terminal may well be over designed to handle the surge in traffic during a mobilization. I've read of IDF members paying for cabs or hitchhiking to get to their duty stations during a crisis.

The U-tube may show contitions of several seeks ago, and numbers of passengers are incresing diaily.  The usage of the station was badly hit by the Coronavirus.  The station has several well-patronied restaurants, has excellent security, is close to the Shalom Tel Aviv station of the electrified line to Ben Gurion Airport and Jweusalem, will have the light near, has an internet cafe, shops for food utensils, and a stores for computer equipment.

1.  Occasional low-keyed advertsing announcements.

'2.  No announcemenys.

3.   Higher fares.

I'll take "a complete lack of information", thank you.  If I need to find out something, I'll go over to the schedule board.  

 PA systems cost money.  Display screens cost money.

 

 

Everything in that building cost money.  By your reasoning, it could all be covered by advertising, too. 

And the floor?  Advertising.  Windows?  Advertising.  Toilet seats? Advertising.  Toilet paper?  Advertising.  Toilet stall door?  Now THERE'S an advertising opportunity!

 

I will tolerate some advertising.  It should be done with an attempt at taste.  I do not want it to be intrusive, as most everything that blares out of a PA system is.

The audio adevertisements at TACBS were and are discreet and low-keyed, and, regarding establuishments within the building, often of value to the traveler.

 

But the place is to closwm primarily because of air-polution. 

 

Ynet has reported.

According to a plan drawn up between the Transport Ministry, the Tel Aviv Municipality and the bus station management team, buses will cease to arrive and depart from the station in 2023, and the concrete ramps used by the busses around the station will be dismantled by 2025. Then, over the following 5-10 years, the station building will be repurposed. 

The decision comes after years of petitions and demonstrations from local residents, and is only now set to be approved, despite several years worth of data pointing to severe air pollution and cancer morbidity in the area surrounding the station.

Starting from 2023, bus routes which previously arrived at the station will be diverted to alternative terminals, a temporary solution until a transport station in Holon is established in a safer manner, a project which is expected to take several years.

 

The Holon site will be connected to downtown TA both by the TA Metro and by IR Suburban trains.

Every transportation expert in the USA who has read the Jerusalem Post;'s report on T. A.'s decision, sent by me, has responded that it is a bad idea.  Many current users of the station who have one-seat or one-change journeys via public transportation will be faced with two,or three changes and additional time.  Many will abandon public transportation for the use of their cars, thus increasing the overall pollution the country receives.

 

The existing bus fleet, all city and intercity buses throughout the country, can be converted to diesel-electric-battery-storage operation with existing technology available from Alstom, Magnet Motor, and Stored Energy Systems.  Any of these three can provide the complete package, which should be applied as soon as possible to all buses having a future operating life of ten years or more.

 

Existing diesel engines will be retained.  The mechanical transmissions will be replaced by three-phase alternating-current generators, with the rectified DC current sent to storage batteries, as well as computer-controlled inside-out permanent=magnet motors inside each wheel.  The batteries will be charged as needed by the generator, by the motors operating as regenerative brakes to provide a majority of braking effort, both to recover energy and also save on brake-pad wear,  Battery power will assist the diesel 8in faster acceleration and hill-climbing and also provide all power in sensitive locations, such as the Tel Aviv Bus Station and its neighborhood.

 

A bus leaving Jerusalem would not have its battery fully charged, since a full charge would be obtained by the braking effort on the descent.  And all but the smallest of the 10-year-or-more  life-span Jerusalem Arab-Sector buses should be included in the program.

 

New York City is in the process of switching ts buhs fleet to a Dual-mode-battery fleet, but with new vehicles up to now.

The metro will be working in 5 -6 yrs.

They now plan to close the main CBS in TLV in about 2-3 yrs.

Egged is slowly converting some  of the buses to gas or even hydrogen.
