Most likely the bad splice connectors only apply to this particular order for SFMuni and not the other agencies. It wouldn't be the first time a specific order from a manufacturer had a defect and dozens of other orders prior had no issues what so ever.
Appears that the connectors that splice contact wire are faulty, SF MUNI is ordering replacements from a swiss company. What is worry some are these splice connectors used by any other agency. That not only includes light rail and streetcar operators but also Amtrak, NJ Transit, Septa, MNRR. I suspect that the builder of these faulty connectos is in a heap of trouble? Their certification that connectors passed specs comes into question.
