Join us for INSIDE THE ARCHIVES on July 25th   Public Program  INSIDE THE ARCHIVES: COLLECTING TRANSPORTATION STORIES Thursday, July 25th, 6:30 - 8:30pm $10 / Free for Museum Members   At the New York Transit Museum, archivists, curators, and educators acquire artifacts of all sizes, from vintage buses to individual subway tokens, that help tell the ever-evolving story of mass transportation and its role in the development of New York City and the surrounding metropolitan region. Join archives and collections staff as they bring objects to life through an engaging presentation and discussion. Learn how the Museum acquires and preserves objects and archival materials, and view recent acquisitions in the current exhibition, What’s Old is New Again: Recent Acquisitions. Learn More Wish You Could Still Go to Summer Camp?   Public Program  CAMP CATCHA-TRAIN: AN EVENING OF CRAFTS AND SUMMER FUN FOR ADULTS Thursday, August 1st, 6:00 - 8:30pm $15 / $10 for Museum Members   Relive your adolescence underground for an adults-only evening of hands-on crafts, scavenger hunts, and storytelling! Sip on some bug juice, get your craft on, and mingle with your straphanger “bunkmates” as you explore the Transit Museum’s decommissioned subway station after hours. Ticket includes one beer provided by Coney Island Brewery. Event is 21+ and additional drink tickets will be available for a $5 cash suggested donation. Learn More All Aboard! Don't Miss Our Summer Nostalgia Rides!   Nostalgia Ride  BEACH BOUND: CONEY ISLAND Saturday, July 20th, 10am $50 / $25 - Adult / Child $35 / $20 - Museum Members Adult / Child    On Saturday, July 20th, enjoy a scenic ride to the beach on our 1910s BMT B-Type Standards. Once we arrive at Stillwell Avenue, brave the rides at Luna Park, check out the action on the legendary Boardwalk, or try one of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs. Ride our vintage train back to Manhattan at approximately 4pm, or stay late to take in sunset on the beach before making your own way home! Learn More  Nostalgia Ride  REMEMBERING THE MYRTLE AVENUE EL Sunday, August 18th, 11am  General Public $50 / Museum Members $35   To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the closing of the Myrtle Avenue Elevated (El), we will venture along the El’s route, the current M and J lines. A major commuter train constructed to connect the residents of Ridgewood and surrounding communities to the business hubs of Downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan, the Myrtle Avenue Elevated played an important role in accelerating the transition of the surrounding neighborhood from rural to urban life.  Our R1-9 cars and BU Gate cars will depart from Delancey/Essex Street in Manhattan, and will travel as far as 111th Street with a stop along the way for lunch on your own, and will return to Delancey/Essex street at 5 pm.  Learn More

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the closing of the Myrtle Avenue Elevated (El), we will venture along the El’s route, the current M and J lines. A major commuter train constructed to connect the residents of Ridgewood and surrounding communities to the business hubs of Downtown Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan, the Myrtle Avenue Elevated played an important role in accelerating the transition of the surrounding neighborhood from rural to urban life.  Our R1-9 cars and BU Gate cars will depart from Delancey/Essex Street in Manhattan, and will travel as far as 111th Street with a stop along the way for lunch on your own, and will return to Delancey/Essex street at 5 pm.
