That $1 to the Hamptons is pure genius.  Sure, it's Saturday only, and requires a monthly pass -- but 4 friends out and back for less than a sawbuck?  Wow!

Kick Off Your Summer With MTA: The Best Way to the Beach

NYCT's Rockaway Shuttle Will Extend to Meet All  Trains on Weekends
Starting May 25, Giving Subway Riders Easier Access to the Atlantic
Ocean

LIRR's Extended Summer Montauk Branch Service Resumes This Weekend; $1
Summer Saturdays are Back Starting June 1

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced today that special
train services and deals to help people get to area beaches begin this
weekend, with a Rockaway shuttle for subway customers and extra Long
Island Rail Road service to the South Fork.  Next week, a popular deal
for $1 LIRR rides on Saturdays also resumes.

“We’re offering extra summer service and special deals to help people
take the subway or LIRR to area beaches and other attractions, and our
buses including new SBS routes are a great option too,” said MTA
Chairman and CEO Patrick Foye.  “Every day of the year, our services
help the environment, reduce traffic congestion, and get people to
their destinations faster than driving, and the summer is a great time
to enjoy the benefits of mass transit.”

Details on service additions and schedule changes in effect this
Memorial Day Weekend only on LIRR, Metro-North, Subways and NYCT Buses
