Terrible pun
CSSHEGEWISCH If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Bi-level gallery coaches have worked quite nicely in suburban and intercity service out of Chicago since the 1950's, even under catenary. They are reasonably comfortable and serve their purpose well. This proposal sounds like change but not progress.

Have you ever ridden double-decker commuter equipment in Europe? I have and have ridden Metra's gallery (cellblock) cars for over 50 years. The gallery car design is almost 60 years old. They were a step up from the old CNW 60' cars, less so compared to the old arch roof, aluminum, hi-capacity cars. Improvements in design have actually occured since the 1950s.
BaltACD CMStPnP Very nice...... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jtqupKLbL4 They make them in bi-level as well, siimilar layout to bombardier commuter cars with a intermediate level leading to both a lower and upper floor. Video is 6 years old. Have any of the cars been manufacturered and placed in service anywhere?
