Hate to tell you this Brian, former business owner here.   A Sales Tax or Sales Tax District (proposed for financing here) is NOT a tax on business, it is a tax on the consumer.   Had they increased property taxes for each business......that would be a tax on the business directly.     All a localized increase in the Sales Tax does is make whatever the business is selling incrementally more expensive but typically and most especially if the business is selling food for example, the tax increase is not even noticed by the consumer.     It's only when purchases rise above a substantial amount that the consumer notices the difference and then it starts to weigh in on the consumer's choice where they are going to shop.......an example would be car dealerships and the selling of cars.

So title should say: "Please tax our customers more........"
