It last operated in 1948 and has been removed. It did carry busses but they rerouted the route 49 to use a street that climbed Mt Adams and the incline was removed. The former head house stood for years but is now a parking lot. A small bus shelter is where the head house was. A large high rise building (apt or condo) is built just to the east of the former head house. The I-71 Expressway took some of the area where it once ran. The Street cars ran on Fifth St to Eggelston ave were they turned south for half a block and then East to the lower terminal. The following map shows the area today

This link shows the view of that location from 1072-1092 Celestial St

bedell

Besides Pittsburgh,   we're there any other places where autos were carried on a funicular?

Cincinnati's inclines could and did. The Price Hill Incline had two side by side inclines with the North one used for freight wagons. There were not many cars carried as streetcars were the principal purpose of the inclines.

The Johnstown, PA funicular can carry 2 cars or 1 box truck.
