LION is sipping a cold drink from Dunkin Donuts.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

In the white reverse "L" angle at center left -- what is that, a repurposed window-mount air conditioner?

MidlandMike

What is the location of the bumper post photo?

Is (L) train, is it not?

Is out doors, is it not?

Must be last stop on CANARSIE line.

Must it be Rockaway Parkway?

Trolley service used to continue beyond this point all the way to the Canarsie Pier. Now is motor bus. Motor bus pulls right into the station to effect a free transfer between bus and subway. Bus stop is just to RIGHT of LION as him takes photograph. Yard for (L) trains is just to the right of the stopped train.

Should not you do some photo correction so that the red signal light is all red?

Lion,

So this is where He's hanging out.

I don't hang out here much.....but will, just to go on the hunt....much easier, when You can blow up the pic'.

Take Care! Big Smile

He must think that he's a mountain lion.  He's on top of the cupola of the red brick building to the left of where the subway ducks below ground level.

The photo just above ROAR in capitals is taken from the south end of the 125th Street Station, northbound platform, on Broadway of the "1" line, looking south.   The rather square brick building beyond the high rise apartment houses is the Jewish Theological Seminary, where in the Autumn of 1944 and winter of 1944-1945 I studied with advanced Rabbinical student Gershon Weiner, who bacame a Conservative Rabbi and then moved to Israel and became a leading Yiddish teacher, trying to prevent the dissapearance of that language.  The window not only overlooked the tracks shown, but also of course the comings and goings of the "B" Broadway-42nds Street Third Avenue Transit conduit streetcar line with its handsome home-built Huuffliners and the occasional Tenth Avenue line Brill Convertable.  Difficult to keep concetrated on Torah and prayers in such an envirionment.

When I finally met up with Rabbi Gershon at a lecture on Israeli education he gave in September 2000 in memory of diseased Aunt Leah's at her retirement home, he immediately asked:

"Well, David, was the Bar Mitzvah a success?"

Is he on top of that paint stripe or white streak on the web of the first (rightmost) column?

He's sitting on the chain marker on the first pole in the foreground.

Isn't it now just the G?

Thanks for the correction.   Yes, just "G?"   Double letters have been out for about 25 years.

Dave I was thinking about the picture of Broadway. The church steeple on the right side of the picture is Riverside Church. The steeple is the bell tower. When I lived on Riverside Dr the church used to let people go up in the bell tower. One of my earliest memories is looking out from the bell tower. Also many memories of the 125th St station on the IRT Broadway line. LION thanks for the memories. Thx IGN
