Despite its other Western Canada cousins having rail Winnipeg has gone with a clunky BRT line and its transit agency has kowtowed to every NIMBY group out there. Like PGH (uses rail right of way)its proposed BRT busways follow CN and CP lines. Looking into the history of its transit system the troubles started when the transit agency ignored a request by Winnipeg City Concil to keep its Trolleybuses in 1969.
