SF Mini hired many women during WW II. Maya Angelou amongst them. They had several women drivers 2 of whom retired in the late 1970's and early 1980's.
I do not remember Dr Angelou being mayor of San Francisco though.

Nice catch, Dave.

BUT, Dr. Maya Angelou is NOT Mayor!  Very well-known author and poet, with strong SF Bay Area connections, but never (I believe) actually held elected office.

The current Mayor got her first job as a streetcar conductor during WWII.
