thanks for the correction. didn't mean to imply it had passenger equipment
daveklepper US Gypsum has a modern 3ft-gauge freight railroad in Arizona, conncecting with a UP, former SP, branch. Was in TRAINS a few years ago.

It's actually in California, but it's an industrial line and you are not likely to see a string of passenger cars as in the NZ photo.
Well, the Durango and Silverton have some homemade "dome" cars that look similar to the cars in the photo that are ahead of the caboose, or should I say "brake van"? Not exactly the same, but similar.
As far as an American twin to that "Kiwi" train I don't believe there is one.
It's a good looking train, though. I like the color.
Mike...I'd check out either European stock or Asian stock....really dig through the Walther's catalog or hone in on NZ web sites...
RIDEWITHMEHENRY is the name for our almost monthly day of riding trains and transit in either the NYCity or Philadelphia areas including all commuter lines, Amtrak, subways, light rail and trolleys, bus and ferries when warranted. No fees, just let us know you want to join the ride and pay your fares. Ask to be on our email list or find us on FB as RIDEWITHMEHENRY (all caps) to get descriptions of each outing.
I'm not looking for an exact replica, just something in the ballpark.
NZ lines are 3'6" gage. There are no modern narrow gage lines in the US, just historic lines. In Canada, the 3'6" Newfoundland line has been gone almost 30 years.
Yes, that's corret. I need to find the closest looking train to this in the US or Canada.
Lower right of the photo says "Tourism New Zealand".
Probably not in the US or Canada...but, evidently someplace...New Zealand, Argentina, Chili, China, Japan, eastern Europe. But it does look real....not a model, not a photo shop or cartoon, don't it.
Hi everybody,
Does anybody know of a train that looks like this in the US or Canada?
