This is fascinating.  I understood all these old street car lines are too worn out to ever be revitalized.  But I guess the City of Jacksonville does not agree.  Another myth dies hard.

I read the article as being one man's idea - not the idea of the community at present.  None of the pictures in the article are from activities in Jacksonville, except maybe the derelict streetcar in the woods.  Having lived in Jacksonville for 20 years I have serious doubts that this idea ever getting financial backing from the city.  If private financing could be found I suspect the city would put eminant domain into play for a right of way.

Lot's of vision, which is good, but needs more hard practicalities to happen.  The equipment notions seem pretty iffy.  But with some funding, it could help revitalize parts of Jacksonville (not Jackson).  The fact that it is the mayor's proposal suggests some political acumen as well.  What's the Atlanta reference in title?
