N.J. Transit coaches?

I took the train from newark to penn central. I don,t think it was electric but they a type of m. u. cars very plain interiors were they arrow 3s? rambo1...

I take it you mean you rode from Newark to Penn Station.  In either case you were riding an electric train in that electricity provided the power to the train.  If you rode from Newark Broad St. (former Erie-Lackawanna, former DL&W), you rode a electric locomotive hauled train. If you rode from Newark Penn Station, the former Pennsylvania RR station in Newark, you could have ridden in either an electric locomotive hauled train or an MU train of Arrow's.

from the airport to penn station did,t see any pantographs above the lead car. On the return trip a very long train could,nt see the lead  almost late. rambo1...

It's quite possible that you rode on PATH rather than NJ Transit.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

I would put my money on it being an older Comet coach - perhaps a Comet III or Comet IV.  There would have been an electric locomotive on the south (west) end of the train.

Evidently the ride was from Newark airport station and since he says he didn't see a pan atop the first car, it probably had electricl locomotive pushing...only electric into NYPenn.

It was most likely an Arrow III. The married pairs only have pans on the B car, which means that the first car of the set may have been an A car of a married pair. Other than the Arrows, there are no cars currently in service that have fluted stainless steel sides and brown interiors.
