Thanks.    I couldn't get the image out of my mind of a certain part of town that people threw eggs at, but somehow I figured that couldn't be right.

Fares slightly up to 6.60 New Sheckles, integration of bus routes to feed light rail starts this Friday 13 January, some reduction in terrible congestion on Aggripa Street can be expected.  Most of the integration is on the west end, along Herzl Blvd, but one new route ("69") connects both Hebrew U campuses somewhat more directly to light rail than does the current 68, and may also make for a better morning commute for me depedning on times and headways.

Egged is an abreviation, Aleph, Gimel, Daled, standing for :

Aleph is for Agguda or Aggudat = Association of, but I forget what the gimel and daled are for.  Someone remember?

From the terminology and lingo seen so far, I assume this thread is about the Jerusalem in the Middle East.

As far as eggs being thrown, I would imagine light rail officials would love it if eggs were the only things being 'blown apart' in that part of the world!

Actually, the light rail line is used by all enthic populations living in Jerusalem, and there have so far been two incidents, only two.  One required replacement of a cracked windshield (not by eggs, obviously) and one other, some kids refused to take their feet off of seats when told to do so by a security officer, who radioed for help, got it, got the kids off the car. and they were locked up by the police for a short time,  but ended up released without charges.

I was riding the front car when a cyclist darted directly in front of a the two-car train, accelerating from the Demascus Gate station at about 10mph.   Emergency braking avoided an accident.   The cars do have magnetic track brakes.
