The sound of silence: People don't get what QUIET means.

From what i've heard, Metras new Quiet Cars aren't working as well as passengers hoped. people are still talking on their cell phones and conversing with one another while others try and keep silent. Conductors are beginning to hand out cards to these noise polluters but it still isn't enough. When will people begin learning.

It's working elsewhere....something wrong with the program in IL?

RIDEWITHMEHENRY is the name for our almost monthly day of riding trains and transit in either the NYCity or Philadelphia areas including all commuter lines, Amtrak, subways, light rail and trolleys, bus and ferries when warranted. No fees, just let us know you want to join the ride and pay your fares. Ask to be on our email list or find us on FB as RIDEWITHMEHENRY (all caps) to get descriptions of each outing.

People will begin learning when uniformed Transit Police start handing out citations, and answering complaints with, "Tell it to the judge."

Unfortunately, the only thing the inconsiderate among us understand is that laws will be enforced, fines will be levied and ridership priveleges will be revoked.  Absent that, there won't be any progress in this area.

The program just barely started (June 6) and it takes a while before people are aware.  The signage has been improved, announcements are made.  Give it a little time before whining.
