Sam1 This is not the same line that comes out of Denton. The Denton to Carollton line is essentially a north/south line. The Cotton Belt runs east west. The portion that is intended for commuter rail begins in or near Plano, runs south of Addison Airport, and if I remember correctly, goes through Carollton enroute to the Fort Worth area. This is the line that DART plans to use as an east/west connector to DFW.

This part is correct, although I believe the line starts in Wylie to the East of Plano but it is direct to DFW line from Plano using the Cotton Belt. I have no idea what equipment they are going to use but if they were smart about it they would operate the line to Ft. Worth as does the TRE with one operating entity and standardized equipment. They need to build onto the DFW airport property from the North Gate yet I believe. Appears they are placing the infrastructure in there with the current recontruction of the North Gate DFW interchange......although I can't be certain yet.
The line passes through or near several upscale residential areas. When I last visited this issue, the residents were opposed to the line. In fact, if I remember correctly, they had filed a law suit to block the use of the line for commuter rail.
Never heard anything about a lawsuit so might be old news there or they resolved it.
DART Parker Road Red Line also hosts some early morning Orange Line trains now, BTW.
They also want to extend TRE South to Grandbury from Ft. Worth at some point.
videomaker Please refresh my memory, but is the the line that is coming from Denton? Or something else? If its the DCTA track they will use TRE's RDC's until they get their own Statdler Cars...

Looks like they are moving ahead. From the proposal it looks like a second connection into DFW Airport in addition to the proposed Orange Line. If it was me I would reuse the Orange Line but I think they might use different LRT equipment for this line...........not sure.
