I do not know CTA's work rules. Write to them or contact the ATU local at http://www.atu241chicago.org/. They will be glad to talk to you. I am sure that you have to learn all the routes and it's a union shop. So, there well be seniority-last on first off, first in time first in line.
How does it when if you're a train operator for Chicago's CTA? Do you qualify on a single line and spend all of your time there? Do you even have to qualify? Is there a senority system like the big RR's? Or can people work a different line every day?
