LIRR CUT OVER
Posted by henry6 on Wednesday, October 20, 2010 11:09 AM

The LIRR is cutting over the new interlocking at Jamaica over the next several weekends and I am impressed with the information for the operating plan being dispersed to the public.  There will be no service west of Jamaica to and from both NYP and Atlantic Ave. (only Port Washington trains running to and from NYP to Woodside and branch stations...thank God the Mets didn't make it to the playoffs!).  Subway and bus connections at Jamaica and at outer points with all local service to  Babylon where passengers will change to Patchogue, Speonk and Montauk trains.  Other change points include Mineola for Oyster Bay.  They have a plan, which in effect they had to use as an emergency plan several weeks ago because of the fire at Jamaica which actually gave them a chance to work out some wrinkles.   But they have a plan and are publicizing it so nobody should be in the dark.

MNRR is doing something similar with track work being done over on the Port Jervis line with postings at stations and on the NJT and MNRR websites and daily bullitens on the service sites.  But this work pales in compared to what the LIRR has to accompplish!
