If my memory serves me correctly, the tavern-lounges were sold by EL to LIRR who used them as parlor cars in their weekend service to Montauk and Greenport.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

A yearly event occured during the week of  9/12-9/18/2010. The Metro-North inspection train visited NJ Transits' former DL&W Hoboken Terminal. Metro-North owns and operates parts of the Pascack Valley Line and the Port Jervis Line (both former Erie) and the train visits the west side of the Hudson River once a year to travel these lines.

What makes the visit unique is that the 3 car Metro-North Inspection Train contains both ex- DL&W (a.k.a. Lackawanna) Tavern Lounge cars from the Phoebe Snow, the famous NY(Hoboken) - Buffalo streamliner that was operated by the Lackawanna and Erie-Lackawanna from 1949 - 1966. Once a year these beautiful cars get to grace the tracks of their former home. Although I didn't get to see the cars at Hoboken I did get to see them at the NJ Transit Meadows Maintainence Complex (MMC) on the day they headed back home to the NY side of the Hudson.
