Tampa - Ybor City Streetcar
Posted by MP57313 on Friday, May 14, 2010 4:44 PM

In April 2010 I was able to ride the local streetcar from the Tampa Waterside to Ybor City; the route is about 4 miles long.  This route operates both "closed" and "open" cars; the 3rd picture would have worked better from an open car but what the hey.  One other unique feature is that this crosses a CSX/Amtrak route on a diamond about a mile or so east of Tampa Union Station.  The streetcars run a brake test each time they approach the diamond.

(2) Open streetcar heading west in Ybor City

(3) Streetcar shops

(4) Streetcar route facing north as seen from the northbound Silver Star
