Metrolink, NJT Comet cars in Los Angeles shop
Posted by 081552 on Sunday, January 18, 2009 12:55 PM

While driving along Interstate 5 I always take my eyes off the road to see what's going on in the Metrolink shop. I see that the NJT Comet cars are being worked on in the shop. Does anyone have photos and/or additional information on when we can see this equipment in service?

Thanks!

I'm a little confused . . .  so some California transit agency is refurbishing used NJT cars?

I don't think they will be refurbished. They were rebuilt a while back, so they're not in that bad shape. Anyway, here's a link to some pix. Note: These are not mine.

They are not to be confused with the tagged comarrows by the top. Scroll down till you see the cab car. THey are not that recent, but they are from when they first arrived in LA.

This pic was taken Saturday morning (1-24-09) at LAUS; with the Coast Starlight in the foreground.

NJT has been getting a lot of new cars in, some bi-level, and the older cars are now appearing all over it seems. The first ones to go were anything with the lower doors on them, really no place they can be used anymore.
