Those of you who live in the New York area or NYC subway fans who want to do a little extra clicking might want to look up "The Boys in the Subway," a mixture of art and recollection from NYT staffer Christoff Niemann (yup, two f's, two nn's). It was posted yesterday, July 1 (I just now confirmed its existence on their blog site) as a blog op-ed piece.
It's a droll account of how his children fell in love with the NY Subway system to the point it outranks SESAME STREET and that subway line nos. and names have filtered into their everyday language as a kind of unwitting code, interspersed with might represents a child's eye of the system, not subway cars or turnstiles as such.

NYTimes is pretty nice about their blogs, don't require subscribing to the newspaper just to get the free service.
If interested, probably the sooner you try to access the blog, the faster it will go. As I mentioned, it is on its second day BUT as of now is within the New York Times' top 10 of blogs with the most hits.
