Vondrak Subway Sleuths Applications Now Open for Spring 2019  Access Program  SUBWAY SLEUTHS Applications due by 5pm on August 30th $350 for 10 Sessions (Limited partial scholarships available)   We're now accepting applications for 2nd through 5th graders for the Fall 2019 semester of Subway Sleuths, our nationally-acclaimed program for students with autism or other social or communication disorders who love trains, are able to talk to peers about this shared passion, and who can move around with a small group to explore the Transit Museum! Upon arrival, enjoy a BYO picnic on the cemetery grounds and take a guided tour to learn how the arrival of the subway brought actors, ministers, and doctors to their final repose in the cemetery. Learn More Take me out to the ballgame – on a vintage train!   Nostalgia Ride  YANKEES EXPRESS RIDE Friday, October 4th at 4pm,  and Saturday, October 5th, 2pm  Departing from Grand Central Terminal Free with subway fare!    MTA New York City Transit is offering the perfect way to get into the spirit of Bronx Bombers post-season play – a ride to Yankee Stadium aboard a vintage 1917 Lo-V train!  Departing from the uptown 4 train platform at 42nd Street – Grand Central Terminal at 4pm on Friday, October 4th and 2pm on Saturday, October 5th,  the Yankees Express will travel non-stop to 161st Street – Yankee Stadium.  Learn More Thank you, Port Authority of New York & New Jersey volunteers! Dedicated volunteers from the PANYNJ's largest annual community service initiative, Remembrance Through Renewal, recently helped give our vintage subway and elevated cars a much-needed scrub down! The day began with hoses, sponges and suds as we cleaned the platform of our decommissioned subway station home and the exteriors of our 22 pieces of historic rolling stock. Following a break for lunch and a tour of the Museum from our Educators, the volunteers then assisted with cleaning the interiors of the cars and tidying some of the other exhibits. Come visit us in Downtown Brooklyn to explore our polished and shined train cars!
