The difference is in the maximum amperage rating, the AR-16 has the lowest rating, the AR-11 is in the middle, and the AR-20 has the highest rating. Higher rating means more mass, and more weight. The locomotive with the AR-16 will be more limited in slow speed high throttle pulling.
