"Got good news to pass along today!
IRM's Diesel Department has worked out a LOAN (which will have to be paid back in full within three years) to acquire TP&W 800 NOW and save it from imminent demise! One of the all-Alco shortlines out east was eyeballing her REAL hard intending to part her out, so this comes in the nick of time!
Even with the loco presumably saved, the loan will still need to be repaid so the fundraising MUST continue. We still need to come up with another $40K+ to finish the project (pay back the purchase loan, move it, pay for its storage space) but at least now we have a bit of breathing room to accomplish our goal.
