The opening photo in the "End of an Erie" article shows two ES 44 locomotives being assembed at Erie in 2008.
They are described as being ES44AC locomotives. The locomotive on the crane looks convincingly like an ES44 AC but the locomotive behind it looks at first to be an ES44 DC, by checking the switchgear compartment behind the cab.
However, it has a couple more louvres under the radiator, and the radiator projects well beyound the hood with grilles extending all the way around the end.
It is an ES44DCi, built on an AC6000 frame, for Rio Tinto in Western Australia.
It would have been an easy pick if it had been painted.
