Brain fart on my end, forgot that there were 4 GP40X core units used in the 7 unit group of GP38-2 rebuilds that CP acquired, not 2 as I originally stated. All 4 are still on the roster and in service.

FWIW the 7 unit group of rebuilds CP #4520-4526 were comprised of the 4 GP40X's, 2 GP38's and 1 GP50 as cores. The line GP50 core unit, CP #4520, was wrecked and scrapped after only about 3 years in service.

Which two were retired? The current Canadian Trackside Guide shows all four still on the roster.

CP 4521 nee SP 7231

CP 4522 nee UP 9003

CP 4523 nee UP 9001

CP 4524 nee UP 9000

They are GP38-2's now, not DASH 3's, but yes the 2 former GP40X's rebuilt to GP38-2 specs are still in service on CP.

Are CP's GP38-3 locomotives (also known as GP40X) still on the active roster? These are the GP's with the flared radiators.. most were assigned to CP in MN as I recall.
