New BNSF Paint Scheme
Posted by caldreamer on Saturday, April 15, 2017 7:32 PM

BNSF has a new paint scheme designated as the H4 paint scheme.  The  H4 paint scheme is the same as H1 but with the modifications of the green replaced by black, the new logo, and a wider orange band. Here is a link to a picture of a newly painted SD40-2 in the new scheme.

Uh, this far from a new paint scheme. It's nearly 12 years old now, with the first repaints coming in late 2005 or early 2006.

I like BNSF's Herritage I & II schemes better than the Swoosh.

I don't mind the Swoosh in moderate amounts.  Just don't over saturate the colors.

That photo, sadly is from nine years ago...

I doubt that any Dash 8 would be repainted like that today, least of all a four motor DC unit. One of the AC traction rebuilds, possibly. BNSF are selling off the surviving B40-8s, aren't they?

could be a few more DASH 8's getting repainted, 10 of the B40-8W's have just been shipped to GE at Ft.Worth for overhaul and PTC installation. Would expect them to be repainted as well, but into the simplified Heritage 4 used on standard cab units and older wide nose units assigned to local and secondary service like the GP60M-3's and SD75M's.

Are they being used in short local/yard switching service?
