OK, because it's hard to tell. The credit units were booked as tier IV according to some sources.

No. The number refers to Tier IV orders.

Does that 1355 include Tier 4 credit locos that they were building last year?

1355 Tier IV orders booked per their website.

Rumor has it both Erie & Ft. Worth are 'running behind' on sub-assemblies and final assembly.

I guess there would have been 30 to 50 test engines prior to production. I wonder if they are counted.

Have they taken orders for 500 locomotives yet?

I think these are the first photos published showing a complete Tier 4 locomotive engine, and it looks a lot like the marine engine for which photos were available. It is easy to see where the hump in the hood comes from, with the turbochargers mounted higher than on a Tier 3 engine.

The size and complexity of the exhaust gas recirculation sytem is also clear.

The fact that it is longer and heavier than the Tier 3 engine isn't obvious.

(Anybody recognise the locomotive in the header -It doesn't look like a current US Domestic unit. South Africa?)

From the pictures - it looks like they are talking about the diesel engines themselves - not completed locomotives.  Still 500 is quite an accomplishment in such a relatively short time.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!
