Yodarian, I suspect you may be confusing this Forum with the ones for "Model Railroader" or "Classic Toy Trains". 

Check the Trains.com Sites for the same.  You'll find plenty of advice there.

How hard is it to make your own flashing LED's and does anyone have a wiring diagram?
