Thank you for your response GDRMCo. I waited a few days to see if any other information/responses came to light. I suspect there will be more revelations about this situation eventually. For a power hungry raiload like BNSF to make order changes thrice while they are leasing units for daily operations seems very unusual.

They started as P4s, were then converted to P6s and then were changed back to P4s. Believe they were only delivered as P4s to BNSF.

BNSF SD70ACe-P4's or P6s?

I am a little perplexed with some information from Trains articles on BNSF's SD70AC'es . Trains Locomtive 2014 (page 14, center column, bottom paragraph) says that "20 of BNSF's 200 SD70ACe's are to be SD70ACe-P6's, but they were originally ordered as P4's. The change during production of P4's meant they were transferred to be changed to P6's at Mayfield, Ky.

Trains for Dec. 2014 states in Locomotive Briefs (page 17, third picture and caption from top) says that BNSF has begun taking delivery of 5 of its first order of SD70ACe-P4's at Paducah, Ky.

Just trying understand what happened there.
