Saw this loco sunday on the local CSX sub, but was unable to get a pic of it. It was what appeared to be an ex-NS GP of sorts (It was on a local), with the Lettering patched out. What confuses me though is that it appeared to have the radar dome that most the new NS EMD rebuilds have. Did NS sell a few of these off to leasers? Or was it just an old NS Cast off and I was just being confused?
There are an awful lot of CSX subs out there; please be specific where the one in question is physically located...
If it runs - CSX will use it, no matter who the owner is.

I saw one of those myself a few days ago, a GP series diesel with a typical NS paint scheme but a leasing companys reporting marks.
I'm assuming it was an ex-NS unit sold to a leasing outfit. The leasers usually don't set any speed records repainting locomotives as long as the original finish is still serviceable. In fact, I've also seen ex-UP locomotives with The UP paint scheme intact, but with no "Union Pacific" on the side and with leasing company marks.
Apparently you saw one of the FURX 5500 series GP38-2' which are former Norfolk Southern units and wear patched out NS colors. NS returned these units to the owner when the lease expired on them. The thing you describe as a "radar dome" is actually an air conditioner located on the cab roof.

Boys (and girls) operate diesels. Steam engines needed MEN.

Uh oh, I hope Lady Firestorm doesn't see this! Or Juniatha either!
Maybe I'll show it to Lady Firestorm anyway and take cover. Her firestorms can be quite spectacular to see!
