Can we only have one thread on this topic? Those locomotives have already been discussed on the other thread.

Why start another message string when a definitive, well vetted one already exists on the same forum?

The builders' catalogues used to carry a lot more models than they do now.  As an example, when EMD introduced the 645 line in late 1965, it included nine models:  SW1000, SW1500, GP38, GP40, SD38, SD40, SDP40, SD45 and DD40A (never built).  All that EMD offers now are variations of the SD70 platform.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

Catalogued but not built

Alco: RS33, C620, C624, C625, C428

EMD: GMD1H, SD39-2, SD59

GE: U18C, B18-7, C18-7, C23-7

Seems to me the B18-7 and C23-7 nearly did find homes, as did the SD39-2. EMD catalogued the SD59 simply because they had the GP59 and figured someone just might want some.
