Coolanticlimbers are to prevent cars overriding in a collision. the other is as the name states.

Rock plows do just that: plow rocks, snow, and other debris that might derail, damage, or stop the train.

Anticlimbers keep couplers from rising above a certain height in a derailment, and the car from crushing the cab of the unit.
