Appears that the P40's have Wabtec 30CW (straight  pneumatic)-while the P42's have Knorr CCB (computer controlled brake).

There is no difference in braking performance nor how the braking signal gets to the train.  The difference is that all the logic and timing are done by a computer with the Knorr system vs. air valves and reserviors for the WABTEC.

What is the difference between the P42's Mechanical Braking and the P40's Electronic Braking?
