Look around on eBay for operator manuals. ALCO, Baldwin, Lima and EMD all provided manuals like the same link provided by OLTMANND. I have several in my collection I picked up in the mid 70's at swap meets. Think of them as the 'owner's manual' vs a shop/repair manual.
You can even find steam manuals as well as there self-help training manuals via mail-order back in the day (these from an old family friend who was a retired Erie fireman.)
Maybe someone can comment if these type of operator manual are still made available for modern power.

Hi GuysI was wondering if anybody might have a link that shows diagrams of diesel locomotives ( basically whats under the hood ) and might show different parts and what exactly they do? kind of like one of those cut away pictures.
