EMDX 2012 Tier-4 demonstrator?
Posted by Lyon_Wonder on Sunday, August 28, 2011 1:44 PM

A new loco has recently emerged from EMD’s facility in Ontario.  Rumor has it that EMDX 2012 is a Tier-4 demonstrator.  This pic shows EMDX 2012 in a consist with other locos and covered in a tarp.  Judging by the outline of the radiator and the frame, it looks like a SD70ACe.

So who on this board is going to the RSI Show in Minneapolis, where this locomotive will be displayed?

I saw this rumor on Loconotes and subsequent posts made it sound like it's just an ACe.

We shall see though.

I doubt this is a Tier 4 unit as EMD is still working on modifications to the 710, also the number it self is 2012 Tier 3 goes into effect next year. this could possibly have common rail injection to meet tier 3 emissions protocol.

So, there are photos up on the net now. Sharp looking unit.

Any of our members that were there care to add anything?

Yeah, that's one of the pics I saw. I was hoping for some more details. I saw a very very bad picture of the information stand in front.
