New used lcos arriving in Brazil
Posted by Mario_v on Friday, August 26, 2011 6:15 AM

Hello all; I've just recieved, in my mail via a yahoo group, some photos of american road units arriving in the port of Santos, already unloaded. These, judging by the colour schemes still used by the units came from UP and BNSF (with some having the old BN colour scheme), and still show off their old road numbers. There is at least an UP531 and also BNSF 6780 (BN scheme), 6788 and some purple units, with one being numbered 7066 among others. These are mostly C30-7s (a local favourite) with some SD40s. It isn't possible to see clearly, but these units seem to have been already reagauged (to 1600 mm broad gauge) since all are resting in the tracks. However they wont be entering imediately in service. Usually such locos are subjected to some refurbishments and technological upgrades (normaççy the SDs are converted to SD40-3 standards). Anywone knows from where these units came from? Some have quite a dirty aspect making me think that they've been stored somewhere for quite a long time
