As a longtime Budd RDC fan I was happy to see a collection of these now vintage units being updated. Its really a testament to the original design and the advantages of all stainless steel construction. I wonder how many miles are on some of these chassises. The dual operating cabs for no turn around, the rapid acceleration and quick braking, low operating costs make them ideal for some types of service. My favorite feature was the view from the passenger area thru the cab to the rails ahead and behind.
A couple of ex-BC Rail units went down to Portland for a temporary service to Astoria and then ended up on an excursion/tourist line in Eastern Oregon as unpowered coaches, I think. Might be candidates for a makeover, hint hint. Hope we hear where the new refurbs from Moncton end up back in service.
There is a local former BN section now owned by the County up here in E. WA/N. Idaho that would be a great location for a Budd tourist run. Highly scenic 28 miles, all waterfront. I'm hinting again.
