Would I be correct in presuming that locomotives not equipped to perform a particular function activated by control signals from the MU cable, would be wired to pass those MU cable signals on to other units in the locomotive consist?

Yes. The 27 pin train line goes through all units.

All EMD 60-series and newer locomotives for North America have Dynamic Braking. GP59 and GP60 locomotives have their resistor grids above the diesel engine like all previous EMD locomotives. SD60 and SD70 series locomotives have the grids immediately behind the cab, and right in front of the air intake grills. The SD70M-2, SD70ACe, and SD90 models have the Dynamic Braking resistors located at the rear of the hood behind the radiators.

Also, up until the SD-60 series it was easy to identify dynamic-brake equipment on EMD's. Do all SD-70's and newer uints have them? What is the main spotting feature on new EMD's and G.E's for them.
