Box Below the Engineer’s Side Window?

What is the box just blow the engineer’s side window on this Ex-Conrail GP40-2?

Is it electrical equipment?

Its Cab signal box it houses relays and decoders for Cab signal equipment

Chicago and Northwestern and the UP just put their boxes inside the nose in the toilet room instead of outside on the running board.
