UP C40-8 that where retired

What did UP do with the exCNW C40-8's that they retired?

I believe that most if not all of them were lease turnbacks.  Disposal would then be the lessor's problem.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul

35 of the ex CNW C40-8C's have been purchased by Canadian National and will be upgraded so they can operate in the Lead position in Canada and will be renumbered into the 2100 series.

35 of the ex CNW C40-8C's have been purchased by Canadian National and will be upgraded so they can operate in the Lead position in Canada and will be renumbered into the 2100 series.

 

They will probably stay in Canada too, so they don't have to upgrade the emissions control equipment, which would be necessary if they wanted to operate them in the US.
