BNSF #9647 Question
Posted by Railroader_Sailor_SSN-760 on Saturday, March 20, 2010 11:17 PM

Is BNSF #9647 still in it's WarVomit (or Barf Bonnet) paint scheme?

I remember hearing awhile back that there was plans to repaint it. I am curious if that has come to pass, or if the WarVomit is still in it's one-of-a-kind paint job?

So many scales, so many trains, so little time.....

 First post...

I love the Cream and Green SD70s but WTF I never saw that before. Still looks better than Heritage paint.

It is unknown by this California forum contributor what paint the 9647 now sports, but the vomit and barf descriptions were apt ones. Photos invariably give that impression. I saw the unit in person once, though, while traveling in the Midwest, and the parked unit was absolutely spectacular! It was so mesmerizing I couldn't hardly stop looking at it. So, I interpreted that experience to BNSF's failure (impossibly so) to transfer scheme dazzlement to photography, and if that cannot be done, the scheme is ultimately a failure.

I was passing through Alliance in early October last year, and noted the 9647 parked at the west end of the shops there.  It was still in its famous paint scheme then.  Haven't heard much about its wanderings since.  It might well be in one of the three long dead lines in the yard south of town.  Even with my 12X50 binoculars, its a bit difficult to see exactly what is there.
