Speaking from memory, which sometimes can be dangerous, in that time period the AC4400CWs were mainly used in the mountains of the west, especially on bulk unit trains. Dragging15,000 or so tons uphill at 2mph was something they were capable of doing, although one can question whether it is the best way to run a railroad. Meanwhile the MLWs were generally kept in the east. The result was that you would rarely find them together. I would guess it did happen at least once and probably several times. Of course, as the population of GEs grew, they became assigned right across the CP system. But by then the MLWs were generally history.

Just curious about this...CP got rid of its MLWs by late 1998 but had already begun taking delivery of the AC4400CWs a couple of years previous to that. However I've never seen a picture with these engines running together..
