Need help finding a K-Line Amtrak NCDOT "City of Salisbury" F59phi
Posted by jmkesler on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 3:43 PM
Hey, i'm new to the forum and have been searching for an O Gauge K-Line F59phi "City of Salisbury" everywhere. I live in Salisbury, NC and i take my two sons (3 and a half and one and a half) to see the NCDOT #73 make a stop pretty often. We catch it around 5:48 pm... Both my boys (and me too now) are train nuts but i really want to find this engine for their Christmas present. Any help locating one would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance folks. An F59 shouldn't be too hard to find, but no manufacturer is going to manufacture a model of an engine that the Railroad only has two of.  You will probably have to paint it yourself.

If you want it to be really accurate, you can wrap an 18 wheeler around the front of it...rofl.

Thank you for your reply. K-Line before their bankruptcy did manufacture both an Asheville and Salisbury engine in 2005... but they are extremely hard to find. I just saw one go down on ebay and balked at the price... now i wish i hadn't. Thanks again.

I stand corrected.  And astonished.

As you must know, K-Line went bankrupt as a result of a Law Suit against them by Lionel for patent infringment.  Sanda Kan (K-Line's China manufacture) took over the assets and continue production with Lionel now doing the marketing of the K-Line product line.

You will get much more information on K-Line and its product line by switching over to the "Classic Toy Train" Forum.  It's all about Lionel, K-Line, American Flyer, and other toy/model trains.
