That engine hit and killed a woman in Modesto yesterday. They don't know if it was suicide or accident. She just walked in front of it.

That was the 1996 on the LA to Portland run that hit the women in Modesto.

This is the 1996 late in the day yesterday in Roseville after the accident.

The Union Pacific assign the locomotives to most any run next.  They are used for special business trains also.

The 1988 was on a stack train to Oakland a few months ago.  i have been able to take pictures of all of the Heritage units and the 1988 has been to California at least seven times to Roseville that I have pictures of it.

How about this one in the snow?

Or this one I call the Ghost Train.

And for good measure, a little green.

As one of the other posters suggested, Union Pacific uses its Heritage Locomotives as normally assigned power,EXCEPT when there is an overriding need to have a specific Heritage Unit availablefor a special assignment: ie, a special ttrain or a commemoratie festival on line.

1988 Miss Katy, MKT Heritage Unit) might claim Parsons, Kansas as a "Home Town."  KATY DAYS Festival has been a host event and 'Miss Katy' has been an attendee and an open exhibit for touring for a couple of days during the last several years events. ( Last year both THe Mo Pac and MKT units were on display together). UP has an area set aside by their terminal office at Crawford Crossing, where employees man the unit and are available to answer questions and welcome photos.

 Thanks.

I do enjoy sharing photo's with others and the Heritage units have all been here several times.

This is the 1983, 1982 and the 8444 after the Salt Lake display two years ago.

The 1989 in Sacramento on the LA to Portland Z train.
