Hello Everyone,

On the left side of the picture are what look like four UP locomotives in line with the NS's. Why would NS store UP's or Lease units, for the rent?

Most likely they are locomotives that are owned by a leasing company. CIT Leasing has a lot of former UP SD40-2 and SD40M-2 locomotives in their lease fleet, almost all still in UP paint. Most just have a line painted through the Union Pacific name on the side of the locomotive, with CEFX reporting marks painted on somewhere.

The first two locomotives in this storage line are also CIT Leasing SD40-2s that formerly belonged to Union Pacific.

Just a guess, but maybe they're in a dead line, not storage. But probably not.
